The Samsun Technical Aircraft Maintenance and Repair Center, established by Samsun University on the Ballıca Campus with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Technology and the Orta Karadeniz Development Agency (OKA), trains qualified aviation maintenance technicians, CNC operators, and welders to meet national and international workforce demands.
This year, the center has started with 6 new students, building on the 10 students registered last year, who are set to graduate in July after completing 2,400 hours of training.
Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmut Aydın highlighted that the center was created with a financial allocation of over 10 million Turkish Lira from the Ministry and emphasized its significance in aviation. He mentioned the intention to develop the facility into a comprehensive aviation campus, collaborating with the private sector to train more aircraft technicians.
Currently, 16 students are undergoing training, with the first batch preparing to obtain B1 and B2 licenses needed to work as aircraft technicians. The program addresses the growing global demand for pilots and technicians, foreseeing a bright future for these careers.
Students pay a fee for the training, which is discounted to 12,000 Euros, and can also benefit from the strong support of the OKA in local projects.
Among the students, Alihan Alan expressed his lifelong dream to work in aviation, while Zehra Atan, the only female student, shared her hopes to inspire more women to join the field.
